The Safe Jobs Healthy Families team is working to learn to what extent the electronics industry in Santa Clara County  knowingly put its pregnant employees at serious health risks. We hope to bring some accountability to an industry that recruited hard working young women  -- esp. farm workers,  cannery workers,  and recent immigrants -   into what it advertised as a "clean industry".

 

For years the electronics industry routinely exposed its workforce - predominantly women of child-bearing age -  to developmental neurotoxins. This exposure, in utero, can cause children to be born with irreparable developmental disabilities 

 

The SJHF  team is trying to reach  women who worked in the electronics industry while pregnant and gave birth to a child who has suffered from a developmental disability. To that end  Safe Jobs & Healthy Families has developed a short survey available in English, Spanish & Vietnamese. ​
